Spring Carnival 5K

Last chance to register for the in-person Spring Carnival 5K - Tuesday, April 5 at 11:59 PM. Registration for the Virtual Spring Carnival 5K closes on Saturday, April 9 at 11:59 PM.

Join Tartans around the globe for the 2022 Spring Carnival 5K! Compete, spectate and celebrate both virtually and in-person wherever you are throughout the week, or in Pittsburgh on Sunday, April 10 at 8:00 AM.

Register yourself and anyone in your family (ages 13+). Be sure to share a valid address and email address for each runner. Race packets will be sent to the address provided for the primary registrant.*

The first 500 participants to register for either event will receive a special 5K gift pack as part of their $20 registration. Gift packs will include a drawstring backpack, collapsible water bottle, 5K decal and a magnetic LED light.

Participation Options

Virtual
Complete the 3.1 miles from anywhere around the world. Run with your family, walk with your dog, skip with your fellow Tartans or stroll over that “finish line” on your treadmill. Keep an eye out for information and updates on in-person celebrations hosted by our regional networks around the world.

In-Person
Run, walk, roll or stroll: Do the 5K your way - join your fellow Tartans for our first in-person Spring Carnival 5K! Meet at the buggy course on Sunday, April 10; the race will weave through Schenley Park and parts of Oakland with plenty of fun photo opportunities! Detailed course information to come.

Post-Race Brunch
There’s nothing like a celebration after an exhilarating race! In-person runners and their guests can register to celebrate their 5K race accomplishments at this post-race brunch. Price for registrants is included; guests can register for $10 per person using the race registration form.

Make a gift

Registration includes the option to make a gift to your network or in support of your reunion class. The winning Network and Reunion Class will receive a special 5K prize. All participants will have the option to choose a fund at registration for your gift to support. All gifts count as gifts to the university and will be distributed to your fund of choice post event.

Support Your Reunion Class or Network’s 5K Giving Challenge
You can help your reunion class or regional network as they go head-to-head in our giving challenge. The more people in your reunion class or network that make a gift, the further your group will lead in the challenge! Follow our live giving leaderboard below as we get closer to Spring Carnival and Reunion Weekend.

The Spring Carnival 5K is organized by the Carnegie Mellon University Alumni Association and may be a strenuous activity. The course does have some inclines and a variety of elevations. It’s your responsibility to determine if you're fit enough to participate in this level of activity.
